Alien Encounter

Genre - Science Fiction  (11+) - Mo Needham

I'd almost reached home when I saw the flashing blue lights in my rear view mirror.  I instinctively checked my speed before laughing at myself as I pushed my dead moped to the side of the road.

As I pulled Betty back onto her stand (an old flame used to let me down a lot too) the light intensified and cast long, sharp shadows on the country road ahead.  I turned and had to shield my eyes, a silent wall of spotlights rushed towards me and enveloped me.

It hit me.  It was like swooning.  I melted towards the ground like a hot blancmange.

I woke in a strange room.  It was cold and I was naked.  I felt giddy and, as I tried to sit up, I slipped sideways like a drunk.

It was then that I noticed to two stubby, green figures across the room.  They moved slowly towards me like lumbering robots pointing with plastic toy ray guns (the ones that rattle and flash when loaded with fresh batteries).

The taller of the two stepped closer.  He pointed the ‘ray gun’ at my head and a gnarled, lumpy digit on his right claw moved and the room was filled with rattling and flashing lights.

“Snerg ta pra shbooba!” he shouted.  Clearly indicating with gestures of his stubby arm that I should lay down again.
“Lishen you!” I sounded drunk too! “Lishen you.”  I had to concentrate on each word and my tongue kept getting in the way.  “I am old… I am cold and the polish will be looking for me by now!  You give me back my twouters… twouters... my clothes, and my shirit and my shoes.  Ooh, and Betty, and let me out of her!”

The two green men turned and shouted some more gibberish to each other.  After an animated minute or two the smaller one raised his plastic ray gun towards the other and his gnarled digit started off the annoying rattling and flashing lights once again.

“Exfuse me!”  I blubbered, “That really isn’t nice.  It makes my hurt head!”  The room span slowly around me and the strange figures stretched and slid in and out of view.  I passed out again, I don’t know how long I was unconscious for this time but my second waking took place much more soberly.

Two stubby green men stood across the room from me.  The taller one of the two pointed a plastic ray gun at my head.  The room was chilly but I was relieved to see that I was dressed.  I was slightly uncomfortable around the waste but this just seemed to be because my trousers were on back to front.  I ran my hands over my head because it felt like I had a hat on.  I was wearing my underpants.  Two buttons on my shirt were done up but not in the right places.  My socks, shoes and other clothing were all piled at the end of the bench I was lying on.

The room rattled and flashed.  Both green men had the plastic ray guns trained on me and were blasting me to smithereens with strangely puzzled faces.

“You’ll run the batteries down you know.  Those AAs are bloody expensive!”

Flob and Glob (I thought it polite to name them) seemed very confused.  Now that I felt less inebriated I felt pretty confused myself.  I thought two amateurs in fancy dress had kidnapped me but these green guys were sweating buckets and only came up to my shoulders.  They looked as real as small, gnarled, green men can look.
